Volunteers are at the core of Lamaze International and there are many ways to be involved with promoting safe and healthy birth. Volunteer involvement will allow you to gain different forms of experience and can take as little or as much time as you have available. Your expertise, experience and leadership skills are an invaluable resource!
Education Council Positions
The Education Council has recently been restructured to better align with strategic priorities and is seeking to fill a key position. We are seeking interested volunteers to serve as the Parent Education Committee Chair and as a member of the Education Council Governing Body, and members who would like to serve on one of the committees. Review the Education Council Policy for more information on the committees and qualifications. Interested members are invited to complete the Volunteer Interest Form and contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
A new Accreditation Council has been established as an independent accreditation function separate from the Education and Certification Councils. The Accreditation Council is charged with setting standards, guidelines and policy for the accreditation of Lamaze Childbirth Education Programs and to review and approve other childbirth educator courses and continuing education that prepare students for Lamaze certification or recertification. The Council is actively seeking volunteers a diverse representation of roles and work settings with interest and knowledge related to supporting Lamaze accreditation activities. Review the Accreditation Council Policy for more information or contact email@example.com with questions.
Social Media Networkers
Do you Twitter, Facebook or blog? Consider sharing some of your online time with Lamaze. We’re looking for help with regular updates to our Facebook Fan Page, increased tweets on our Twitter account and blog writers for our upcoming new consumer blog. Contact Tim Hendrickson at firstname.lastname@example.org to help out!
Lamaze also is searching for volunteers to translate our care practice papers and earn alternate credit toward recertification! The English versions were updated in 2009 and we are now seeking to update the Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Czech and Romanian versions. The Lamaze care practice papers are invaluable resources for expectant parents around the world—we would love to be able to offer them in many more languages. If you are fluent in a different language and would like to volunteer to translate, contact Jeanne Mendelson at email@example.com.
