Volunteers are at the core of Lamaze International and there are many ways to be involved with promoting safe and healthy birth. Volunteer involvement will allow you to gain different forms of experience and can take as little or as much time as you have available. Your expertise, experience and leadership skills are an invaluable resource!
Board of Directors – Call for Applications
The Search Committee has begun the 2015-2016 search for qualified, active, visionary leaders among our Lamaze members for election to the Lamaze International Board of Directors. Lamaze is your organization and your involvement is critical! If you feel passionate about the Lamaze mission to promote natural, safe and healthy birth, and are willing to volunteer your expertise and leadership skills, we strongly encourage you apply for consideration as a candidate for the Board of Directors. You are also encouraged to recommend respected colleagues. Interested candidates will need to submit the Board Candidate Questionnaire and curriculum vitae and any other requested materials by the published date.

Education Council Positions
The Education Council has been structured to align with Lamaze strategic priorities and is seeking a leader to Chair the Parent Education incentives. The Council also needs volunteers to work on various education task forces or serve as a nurse planner in our ANCC Approved Provider Unit for planning continuing education offerings. Review the Education Council Policy for more information on the various areas and qualifications. A new Accreditation Council has been established as an independent accreditation function separate from the Education and Certification Councils. The Accreditation Council is charged with setting standards, guidelines and policy for the accreditation of Lamaze Childbirth Education Programs and to review and approve other childbirth educator courses and continuing education that prepare students for Lamaze certification or recertification. The Council is actively seeking volunteers a diverse representation of roles and work settings with interest and knowledge related to supporting Lamaze accreditation activities. Social Media Networkers
Do you Twitter, Facebook or blog? Consider sharing some of your online time with Lamaze. We’re looking for help with regular updates to our Facebook Fan Page, increased tweets on our Twitter account and blog writers for our upcoming new consumer blog. Lamaze also is searching for volunteers to translate our care practice papers and earn alternate credit toward recertification! The English versions were updated in 2014 and we are now seeking to update the Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Czech and Romanian versions. The Lamaze care practice papers are invaluable resources for expectant parents around the world—we would love to be able to offer them in many more languages. If you are fluent in a different language and would like to volunteer to translate, contact Jeanne Mendelson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Contribute to Inside Childbirth Education
Lamaze is seeking content contributors for the monthly issues of Inside Childbirth Education, now with more targeted content, delivered in a new, more timely and user-friendly format. Monthly issues update Lamaze members on the latest research, educational opportunities, discussions in the news and general activities. Writing for Inside Childbirth Education is your chance to reach thousands of colleagues in the birth community with your tips and success stories!

Certification Exam Item Writing
LCCE Educators interested in contributing to the exam writing process are welcome to submit items to the Certification Council for review. Educators who submit 10 questions can earn up to 10 alternate credit hours toward their recertification upon approval of submissions.
