Breastfeeding Professional Support Workshop
This innovative 2-day workshop combines live and online learning with five interactive online modules that can be completed at the participants’ pace and a one-day live workshop filled with case studies, role-play scenarios, and problem-solving activities.
The Breastfeeding Support Specialist Workshop has been designed specifically to help hospitals meet the staff training component of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative accreditation process. Maternal-child nurses, childbirth and breastfeeding educators, lactation consultants, and others providing perinatal and postnatal care will learn how to provide breastfeeding mothers with support; build confidence, assist with problem solving, and enhance lactation support knowledge and skills. Participants will attend a live session as well as get access to online resources and references.
After attending this workshop, learners will:
- Fulfill the classroom training requirements outlined in the standards of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative;
- Identify strategies for helping women and their families prepare for breastfeeding;
- Design and/or modify hospital postpartum management policies and procedures that support exclusive breastfeeding.
The online component of this program is being been planned by Lamaze International for 8.0 hours of CNE credit and the live component of this program is being planned by Lamaze International for 8.0 hours of CNE credit.
This combined program is being planned for 16.0 Lamaze contact hours and 16.0 L-CERPs. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #15932 for 19.2 contact hours.*
