Breastfeeding Professional Support Workshop
The Breastfeeding Professional Support Workshop curriculum is designed to help hospitals meet the staff training component of the Baby Friendly Hospital accreditation process. Maternal-child nurses, childbirth and breastfeeding educators, lactation consultants, and others providing perinatal and postnatal care will learn how to provide breastfeeding mothers with support, build confidence, assist with problem-solving, and enhance lactation support knowledge and skills.
After attending this workshop and completing the online modules, learners will:
- Fulfill the classroom training requirements outline in the standards of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative;
- Identify strategies for helping women and their families prepare for breastfeeding; and
- Design and/or modify hospital postpartum management policies and procedures that support exclusive breastfeeding.

The live component of this program has been planned by Lamaze International for 7.5 hours of CNE credit, 7.5 Lamaze Contact Hours, and 7.5 L-CERPs. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #15932 for 9.0 contact hours. To earn credit, participants must complete entire course and complete a post-workshop evaluation.
The combined program (bundle) has been planned for 15.0 hours of CNE credit, 15.0 Lamaze contact hours and 15.0 L-CERPs. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #15932 for 18.0 contact hours. To earn credit, participants must complete entire course, all online modules, and complete a post-workshop evaluation.
Lamaze International is an accredited provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation.
